Why Pets Matter in Ride A Pet

Pets drive nearly every part of progression in Ride A Pet. A fast mount gets you to distant egg spawns and back to your ranch before the timer expires, while valuable pets earn passive income when placed at your base.

The ride a pet all pets collection currently includes 37 hatchable pets, from the common Snail to the exceptionally rare Griffin. Hatch odds are not the whole story: a pet with better speed may be your best explorer, while another with higher income belongs in a ranch slot.

Each pet begins with base stats. Leveling and mutations can improve a pet later, but base values are still the easiest way to decide whether a new hatch is a real upgrade.

The main stats have different jobs:

  • Speed determines how quickly you travel across the map.
  • Jump helps with cliffs, elevated egg locations, and awkward terrain.
  • Income determines how much passive cash a placed pet contributes.
  • Hatch chance shows how rare that pet is from its egg pool.

Early pets are useful only briefly, so do not spend heavily improving every hatch. Prioritize enough speed to reach better eggs, then build a ranch roster that improves your income.

A pet is added to your collection index once you hatch it. Make sure a new hatch registers before you trade, fuse, or otherwise remove it. Filling the index is a long-term goal, but it should not distract you from immediate movement and income upgrades.

The rarity curve rises sharply after Ostrich. Fox, Giraffe, and Cheetah are major progression milestones, while Unicorn and later pets are endgame targets. If you are still working through early eggs, focus on frequent upgrades rather than holding out for a distant ultra-rare hatch.

Base Stats: Speed, Jump, and Income

Not every currently known pet has published base-stat values. The following table covers pets with established speed, jump, and income numbers. Income is shown as the base passive value per second.

Kitsune is the strongest confirmed choice for raw travel, with 1B base speed and the highest listed jump value of 170. It is the mount to use when rare eggs are spawning far from your position.

Dragon is slower than Kitsune but earns substantially more passive income: $300M per second at base value. That makes Dragon the premier ranch earner among pets with available stats.

Phoenix is a particularly useful late-game bridge. Its 1M speed, 146 jump, and $100,000/s income make it a major step up from T-Rex. Cerberus then creates an enormous leap, especially for players seeking a stronger balance of mobility and income before obtaining the rarest pets.

For terrain-heavy routes, do not overlook jump. Kangaroo, Spider, Unicorn, Phoenix, Cerberus, and Kitsune all have unusually strong jump values for their progression tiers. A slightly slower pet can still save time if it avoids detours around hills or elevated spawn points.

How to Build Your Best Pet Setup

Your best riding pet and your best income pets should usually be different. Ranch capacity is limited, so use each slot for its strongest purpose instead of treating every pet as a permanent mount.

A practical setup looks like this:

  • Equip your fastest available pet before searching for eggs.
  • Place your highest-income pets at the ranch for passive cash.
  • Replace early pets quickly when a hatch provides a meaningful stat jump.
  • Feed only pets you expect to keep through a substantial part of progression.
  • Improve your base luck as you move toward rarer egg tiers.
  • Learn the routes between major map areas so a spawn notification does not waste your time.

Food gives pets XP and helps them age upward. Basic food is inexpensive but provides less XP, while premium food becomes more worthwhile for pets you intend to retain. Mount the pet you want to train, or place it at your ranch, before feeding it.

Egg hunting creates a snowball effect. Better speed means you can reach more egg spawns. More eggs mean more opportunities for rare hatches. Stronger pets then improve both your travel and your ranch income, allowing you to invest in luck, food, and future upgrades.

Do not judge a hatch only by rarity. Koala, for example, is faster than Axolotl but has lower listed income. Spider is not the quickest midgame pet, yet its high jump can make it excellent for difficult routes. Dragon is a superior money-maker, while Kitsune is the better movement choice.

If you have limited ranch slots, compare income first. If you are missing eggs because you cannot return in time, compare speed first. If elevated terrain is slowing you down, check jump before replacing your current mount.
